How It Works
Three moves. That's the whole thing.
1. Pull it apart. The striker sits inside the body when it's not in use — that's what keeps the whole unit sealed and pocket-safe. Grip the tail and pull the top section free.
2. Scrape. Hold the rod steady, press the striker's edge against it at an angle, and drag down in one firm stroke. Push through it — a slow scrape gives you nothing, a committed one throws a shower of sparks.
3. Catch the spark. Aim into dry tinder — birch bark, cotton wool, a scrap of char cloth, even a smear of vaseline on cotton. The sparks land hot. The tinder does the rest.
